Dear Santa...

It's Christmas Eve! Because I love Christmas, and because I am still a child, I have written a letter to Santa. Have a look.

Dear Santa.

Because I have been really, really good this year, I think I deserve any/all of the things listed below. I don't want to sound greedy or anything, but I don't think it's too much to ask from a darling like you. Even just one or two of these items would sort of make my life, so just see what you can do. Cheers!

1. The entire Beatles collection on cd. (I really want this on vinyl, but it's about £3000, and like I said, I'm not greedy, so CDs will suffice.)

2. Fuji Instax 210 Polaroid Camera (with film).

3. A pair of Marni heels in size 9 (I could probably squeeze into an 8 if necessary).

4. Burberry trenchcoat.

5. An all-expenses-paid holiday to somewhere pretty and warm (must be two weeks or longer).

6. A teeny tiny Chanel 2.55 bag.

7. Speaking of Chanel, I really would like that handsome young man who is in the Bleu De Chanel fragrance advert. He's delicious. He's called Gaspard Ulliel, or something like that. If you could get me and him under some mistletoe together, that would be sweet.

An actual outfit that I actually wore - Chanel, and a Highland cow.

I like to use my weekends to catch up on sleep, as I get so little of it during the week. Today was no different and, despite having a dissertation proposal to write, I slept in until about 1pm (pretty early for me on a Saturday). This afternoon, me, my mum and my brother (who is home from uni for a couple of nights) got the bus up to York to meet my dad after he finished work, and we went out for tea and then to the theatre. What a cultured family we are.

Umm...ok, maybe not that cultured. But it was grand all the same.

Today I wore:
Jumper - vintage, jeans - Topshop, bag - Chanel, scarf - given to me by my dad, shoes - Office.

That bag is one of my most prized possessions - I have actual physical loving feelings towards it. I don't like to use it all the time, just in case something - anything - happens to it, but sometimes the urge to show off that I own a Chanel 2.55 bag becomes so overwhelming that I simply have to use it, even if I am only wearing jeans and a woolly jumper that I bought from a stall at Leeds Fest.
I bought this jumper entirely because it features a Highland cow. How could I resist?

"Oh yes, I love to do shoes. I'm not a fetishist but I love to do shoes."

NEW CHANEL. MINDBLOWING. AND FLORENCE WAS THERE! (But I can't find pictures of this). THE NEW SEASON IS COMPLETE.

I'm completely in love with Clemence Poesy. So sweet.

The lovely Vicky over at her beautiful blog Aha Shake Heartbreaker, has tagged me in a post! You remember those questionnaire things that always used to go around Myspace? Well it's like that, only cooler (I'm lying - nothing is cooler than Myspace. I miss it). Anyway, here are my answers. Not being a fashion blogger per se, my answers will no doubt be the opposite of what everyone else will say. But that's why you love me, right? Right?

1.) Why did you start blogging?

Several reason really. I set this up aaages ago, but I never wrote on it because I thought, who on earth is going to read this stuff? Then my pal Hayley started a blog, so I began to post because I figured that this way atleast one person is going to read it. And then I got a bit carried away and now I post loads. I basically just wanted somewhere that I could write about music I listen to or films I see, gigs I go to, books I read and things that I love. All the pictures that I post are things that I would print out and stick into my diary if I had a printer, or, indeed, a diary.

2.) Do you prefer Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter?

SUMMER! Not even Spring/Summer, but just SUMMER. I hate Winter. I hate New Years. I adore Christmas, but I hate the crushing feeling of anticlimax when Christmas is over. I hate it when it gets dark early. I hate it when I get up for work and it's still dark. I HATE BEING COLD. HATE IT. I can't bear being cold, so Winter is the worst for me. I love summer; I love the freedom it gives you because it's warm and light and you can wear whatever you want without having to worry about trying not to freeze to death. Fashion-wise, I far prefer A/W campaigns, but for myself, summer is the only season that I can comfortably handle. When I was on holiday, being able to go out at night in only denim cut-offs and a blouse was The Best.

3.) What do you notice first: Smokey eye make-up or bright lips?

Bright lips are more striking and noticeable, but I prefer smokey eyes for myself.

4.) Who are your style icons?

Alexa Chung can do no wrong; I would wear any outfit of hers and be very happy. Florence Welch is also fairly perfect on the style scale. Alison Mosshart; she's so cool it makes me want to cry. Bands from the early sixties, like The Beatles in their black tie phase, or Rolling Stones in their flouncy phase. Bands nowadays, like The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, or Kings of Leon. I take tips from anywhere, but music and musicians is my big one.

5.) Describe your personality in three words?

Obsessive. Ridiculous. Sarcastic.

6.) If you had to leave the house with only one item of make-up what would it be?

Aaaah, that's a tough one because I physically cannot leave the house without foundation or eyeliner. But if I had a gun to my head, I would choose foundation and just wear sunglasses, or something.

7.) Which era do you think influenced fashion the most?

I think the Sixties was a really big era for fashion; that period of time opened up so many levels for us now, and gave us so much freedom. But in terms of influencing fashion, nothing has been more influencial than Chanel. She changed everything in women's fashion, so I would say The Chanel Era.

8.) What beauty product do you always repurchase?
Bourjois foundation, Rimmel kohl eyeliner.

The Alexa Effect

And so begins yet another Alexa Chung post...

Yes yes yes, I have just been camping for two weeks (I fcking HATE camping), but on Friday I will be shivering and sleeping under canvas once again because it is the last festival of the summer season, LEEDS FEST.

I despise Leeds Festival. Loathe it. It is full of whiny teenage brats whose daddy bought them their ticket as a summer holiday present, and everyone wears those tacky straw trilbys and thinks they're a Kooks groupie, or something. It's a festival for posers and for kids who think that they are so cool just because they're at a festival, and woah, aren't they hardcore for wearing wellies and not combing their hair for four days. Yay!

But the line-up is A M A Z I N G.

The Libertines. Blink 182. Frankie and the Heartstrings. Mumford and Sons. The King Blues. Weezer. We Are Scientists. Alkaline Trio. Pendulum. ENTER SHIKARI. It is the sort of line up that I have dreams about. So of course I have to go.

And of course, because it is Leeds Fest afterall, I have to dress up. And here enters Alexa Chung.

Nobody dresses for festivals like the Chung. She is perfect. She is sitting in a field, eating salmonella burgers, drinking Strongbow and dancing to bands perfect. And so below are the looks that I am going to attempt to emulate (weather permitting, of course).

But no doubt this is what I will need to wear. It is England, afterall.

Oh MY.

Did anybody else open this month's issue of Vogue and actually gasp at how stunning the new Chanel campaign is? Not just me, I hope. Oh. My. God. There is red. Red dresses. Red and black and that ridiculously beautiful green-gold bag (Gregory, if you're reading this - I want one for Christmas please?) I cannot find the campaign photos, so I'll post these from the last Cruise Collection instead - Chanel's Cruise Collection is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful things that Karl Lagerfeld creates.
